Katamme elokuiseen lauantaihin noin kilometrin verran yhteistä pöytää halki Oulun keskustan. Kutsumme oululaiset ja vierailijat nauttimaan ruoasta, ohjelmasta ja yhdessäolosta rennossa tunnelmassa. Kesäillan kattaus on kaikille avoin, pääsymaksuton ja ikärajaton tapahtuma.

Pöytien ääreen istahdetaan vapaavalintaisten herkkujen kera: itse valmistetut tarjoilut, paikan päältä ruokamyyjien annoksia tai tapaksia kaupan valikoimista – tyyli on vapaa. 

Mukana on kymmeniä ruokatoimijoita, ja tarjolla tulee olemaan pohjoisten makujen lisäksi muun muassa aasialaisia, afrikkalaisia, meksikolaisia ja välimerellisiä ruokia niin ruokakojuista kuin kivijalkaravintoloista ja -kahviloista sekä kaupoista.

Kattaus tulee näyttämään upealta! OSAOn puutarha-alan opiskelijat koristavat kattauksen kukkasin ja pöytiin katetaan Proton — Pohjois-Suomen Muotoilijoiden ja Oulun ystävyyskaupungin Hangzhoun China Academy of Artin yhteistyön tuloksena syntyneet ainutlaatuiset liinat. 

OHJELMA
Oulun 39 kumppanikunnan kulkue lähtee klo 11:30 Linnansaaresta kohti tapahtuma-aluetta. Toripolliisi-patsas saa ylleen kokin asun, ja Rotuaarin aukiolla kumautetaan kattilaa tapahtuman alkamisen merkiksi klo 12. 

Keikkoja ja esityksiä on päivän aikana tarjolla kolmella lavalla: Radio Pooki -lavalla Rotuaarilla, Otto Karhin lavalla ja Juureva IS -lavalla rautatieaseman lähellä. OSAO toteuttaa Snellmanin puistoon leppoisan hengailualueen. Taito Pohjois-Pohjanmaa ry kutsuu tapahtumakävijöitä neulomaan. Laajan Oulu2026-alueen kunnat tuovat esiin oman alueensa ruokaperinnettä ja myös lavaohjelmassa kuuluu kuntien ääni.

Tasty bites & great vibes!

We will set a common table for about a kilometer across the center of Oulu on Saturday in August. We invite Oulu residents and visitors to enjoy the food, the program and togetherness in a relaxed atmosphere. The event is open to everyone, free of charge, and has no age limit.

Tables will be set for a total distance of about one kilometre across Oulu city centre: from the Market Square along Rotuaari and from the front of the City Hall along Hallituskatu all the way to the railway station. Starting at 11:30, the event begins as the parade of Oulu’s 39 partner municipalities leaves Linnansaari for the main venue. The Toripolliisi statue will be decorated with in chef’s whites, with the sounding of a pot in Rotuaari Square marking the event’s opening.

More than 50 food businesses have signed up, ranging from street-food stalls to established restaurants and cafés. In addition to Nordic flavours, there will be a variety of dishes on offer, including Asian, African, Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. You can also sit at the tables with your own homemade treats, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere and the programme.

This long table display winding through the city centre will look spectacular: Horticulture students from OSAO will decorate the tables with floral arrangements. The tables are set with unique cloths created through a collaboration between Proto, the Designers’ Association of Northern Finland, and the China Academy of Art from Oulu’s twin city, Hangzhou.

PROGRAMME
There will be a programme of events and fun activities along the streets and on 3 stages throughout the event, from 11:30 am to 9 pm. OSAO is setting up a hangout area in Snellman Park. Taito Pohjois-Pohjanmaa ry invites eventgoers to do some knitting. Local food traditions from across the broad Oulu2026 region are being showcased by the municipalities, whose contributions will also be reflected in the stage programme.
